QP2269

QP2269 Non-Contact Voltage Tester/IR Thermometer is a combined NCV Tester and IR Thermometer sold in Australia by Jaycar Electronics. It runs on 3 x LR-44 Button Cells (included), so around 4.5VDC.

Dismantling

• open the battery compartment and removed the 3 button cells
• remove the "NCV" rubber button from the base of the unit by pulling it out
• the PCB will then slide out the IR end with a little prising of the "sides" of the tube near the IR end
• the LCD module can be unscrewed from the PCB will a fine Phillips head screw-driver
• the shroud around the Thermal IR detector can be removed

Internals

The Thermal IR detector is in a 4-pin TO-18 style case (around 5mm dia.) The part number "3214" and "OJ" appear to be stamped on the side. It has 4 leads, with pin 4 connected to the case, which is not electrically connected to GND.
